Chennai: While new passenger vehicle sales witnessed a 9 per cent rise in July sales compared to last year, the used car market seems to be seeing a dip in demand as prices saw a decline ranging from 6 per cent to 10 per cent in eight of the ten top-selling models, data shared by Shriram Mobility Bulletin for July.
 
Siam to address soaring inventory concerns in executive committee meeting

Tata Motors launched the much-awaited electric coupe SUV Curvv EV in India on Wednesday. Besides that, the homegrown automaker also revealed the powertrain and other details of the ICE variant of the coupe SUV. Slated to launch on September 2 this year, the Tata Curvv ICE will be available in both petrol and diesel engine opinions. While there will be a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and an all-new 1.2-litre Hyperion GDI petrol motor on offer, the Curvv ICE will also be available with a new 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel powermill. The carmaker also hinted that the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine would be introduced to the Tata Nexon soon.

During the Tata Curvv EV launch, Tata Motors announced that the internal combustion engine (ICE) version’s pricing will be revealed on September 2. The electric version starts at Rs 17.49 lakh, with bookings commencing on August 12. Here’s what you should know about the Curvv’s petrol and diesel options. The Curvv will complete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate and MG Astor.

When it comes to two-wheeler sales, Hero is the manufacturer to look out for, as the company seems to be unshakable from the top. Month-on-month, Hero leads retail sales in India and July 2024 was no different, as Hero MotoCorp retains its market share of 27.6 percent, although it did see a decline compared to July 2023.
Valuations factor in strong earnings growth, better margins for TVS Motor
TVS Motor met expectations in terms of revenue and posted a strong margin performance in Q1FY25.  The key drivers were material cost savings and a better mix. The domestic demand outlook looks good with a rural rebound but geopolitical uncertainties in key export markets may dent overall growth. Bangladesh, for example, is in turmoil.  
 
TVS Motor stock soars post Q1 numbers
TVS Motor Company shares were trading at ₹2568.05, up by 73.10 points (2.93 per cent) on BSE and at ₹2565.30, up by 86.50 points (3.49 per cent) on NSE at around 11:50 am. TVS Motor Company reported a 23.4 per cent year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to ₹5,773 million for Q1 FY25, with revenue growing 16% to ₹83,756 million. The company’s EBITDA margin expanded to 11.5 per cent, with EBITDA rising 25.7 per cent to ₹9,602 million. Domestic two-wheeler sales volume grew 15 per cent, with scooter sales up 21 per cent and motorcycle sales increasing 8per cent.

BMW, Ford, Volkswagen and GM to recall 51 million cars in US over airbag issue
